( so oliver's throwing a party. well, more accurately, thea is throwing a party at the queen mansion, and oliver didn't really have much choice in the matter. regardless, there's a christmas party and sara's here and apparently kara's here, courtesy of the interdimensional vibe-y device that cisco gave her after the whole dominator fiasco.

maybe it's fate that the two of them ended up here like this, face to face and practically nose to nose, or maybe it's wishful thinking. either way, sara's definitely not mad at it, and she's definitely not mad at the tiny green plant that's danging above their heads.

kara might be an alien, but she's been on earth long enough now that sara's pretty sure that she knows exactly what mistletoe entails. her eyes glance up towards it and then her gaze meet's kara's again, even though their mouths are so close already that it wouldn't take very much at all to close the gap and do it already. but instead, she's just gonna quirk an eyebrow in something like a challenge, murmur a soft, ) Hey, Supergirl.

[ holiday parties are a strange mix of i am really glad to see you and i would have never left the house if i'd known you would be here. luckily for everyone, this holiday party (thrown by a strange but welcoming combination of cisco ramon and thea queen) features a little bit of everybody. friendly faces from all over the known universe have come in for a night of endlessly flowing champagne and holiday cheer.

which, of course, includes mistletoe.

when linda finds herself crossing the hall from one room to another, she also finds that her feet just won't move. it's as if they're stuck to the spot, though there's no tacky gum adhering her heel to the tile, or industrial-strength fly paper keeping her rooted. only after looking up in frustration does she notice the deep greens and reds of the mistletoe, tied neatly against the archway with a satin ribbon. ]

Cisco — [ because she doesn't know thea well, but she does know cisco, and this is exactly the type of prank he'd pull. harmless but hilarous. (to onlookers, at least.) ] — when I find you...

[ of course, it can't be that easy. being stuck in a quiet hallway is one thing. at least there's some privacy while dealing with the issue, some silence to think about the concept of abandoning your new shoes in order to escape unseen. but the universe works in mysterious ways, and just as linda is about to make up her mind, a certain speedster walks through the hall. ]

[It's been a few weeks since Mon-El was last in the alien bar and he's not very comfortable being back today. He can still picture the bodies lying on the floor after the Medusa attack. He hadn't saved anyone and if it hadn't been for Kara's earth mom and the others he wouldn't have made it out alive either. It seemed like everyone needed a little time away, but there was a reopening and Alex and Maggie were going which brought in Kara and if Kara was going... Well, at least there's alcohol, right?

When he steps in he notices red and green decorations and some small additional lights strung around the room. He'd been seeing some of the same popping up around National City. Winn said the were for Christmas? But the part he really doesn't get is when he looks up quizzically at the mistletoe dangling above him.] Have they always grown vegetables from the ceiling here?

[ coming back to central city had been the plan. sooner or later, her extended vacation in coast city was going to have to come to an end, and she would have to come back and face the weird, life-changing experiences in her hometown.

linda just didn't expect it to happen over the holidays, and of all the places in central city, she certainly didn't expect to wind up at the hockey rink. but in less than ideal circumstances, people flock to whatever brings them normalcy; the events of the last year had meant a banner year for the combines, with ticket sales through the roof. in any case, it had been enough to encourage a once-in-a-lifetime offer for season ticketholders.

( It's not a huge Danvers-Kent family reunion in Kansas--though hey, that does sound nice and she might or might not pitch the idea to Eliza for next year. Instead, Eliza has gone and invited everybody to Midvale. It's... nice, to be back, in a way. The house still feels empty without Jeremiah, and it's an absence that everyone feels. But there's also hope, something the family clings to. Family and extended family included. It's contagious, and Kara's fairly buoyant for most of the evening, socializing with everyone.

Eventually, though, Alex puts on A Christmas Story, and Kara checks out. The Red Rider bb gun isn't something she particularly cares about. Excusing herself, she's about to head upstairs when she bumps into him in the hallway. Her eyes meet his, and for a moment, she's caught. The memory of that moment they'd shared together when they'd both thought he didn't have many moments left is burned, etched into her mind. She can't forget. But she can smile up at him, despite the flush in her cheeks, oblivious to the mistletoe someone has gone and hung from the light fixture above them.

If Eliza's behind it, later on, she won't be at all surprised. )
