and yet, here she is, eyes closed and staying, and when she speaks, it isn't a rebuke and she isn't yelling at him. there's been a lot of yelling, especially early on. ]

they slip out a side door without speaking, and when the echo of the music fades away in the night breeze, kara lets out a breath she hadn't realized she was still holding. it doesn't completely dim the dizzy feeling in her head, but it helps. ]
The stars are out tonight. [ the clouds have parted, and at this place, further out from the city, they can actually see the stars. if kara's gaze lingers on them too long, her mind wanders back to life amongst them too. what this arrangement might mean if she was still on krypton, in her white dress, with mon-el. ]

Do you miss travelling? [ he asks, in lieu of asking if she misses krypton (of course she does) or daxam (of course she doesn't) or if she thinks the war was worth it, if she'd rather have let everyone die than be promised to the prince of daxam in a quest to unite their peoples enough to at least allow them to fight side by side. ]

[ the apology feels lazy, a plaster that can't possibly heal the wound she's casually picked at, but it's earnest in its own way. she turns to look at him; in the dim twilight, under the milky light of the moon and the stars, mon-el's skin nearly glows.
carefully, hesitantly, kara leans over to press her lips to his cheek. the touch lingers for a moment, soft and sweet, and she smiles against his skin before pulling away. ]
