[ barry glances around, brows furrowing together in a manner that shouts guilty. there's mistletoe everywhere — hanging on the door frames, tied to underneath chairs, sitting against windows, even hung from the light in the bathroom. it'd been a very tricky process, but barry allen's never done anything half-assed when it comes to iris west. ]

I don't see any dirt or pots? [ he smiles. ]

[This is their first date and the flower arrangement all over again.

Iris rolls her eyes and laughs a moment later. Steps into his personal space and wraps her arms around his neck to plant a long kiss him on him.]

I'd hate for it to go to waste.

[ his arms wrap around her waist, hands pressed against the small of her back to ensure she doesn't step away. he smiles down at her, finding it's difficult to keep any sort of curious expression on his face. ] Me too. [ he nods his head a little. biting his bottom lip, he glances up at the mistletoe, then down at her. ]

[ he presses his lips together for a moment. ]

It's not going away. [ his smile remains cheeky as he looks at her, brows furrowing purposefully together. ] I wonder why it's not going away.

[ probably because it isn't particle accelerator affected mistletoe, or barry allen hasn't reached up to snag it from where he's displayed it. but he does think this is a mystery only a reporter of iris west's calibre can uncover. ]

[Those are two very good reasons. It's not meta-mistletoe and he hasn't used his height to move it. But it probably does require further investigation.]

[ neither of them are going to have lips left after this, which is okay by barry. he doesn't particularly want to kiss anyone else. ]

[ pursing his lips together, he feigns mulling it over. peering up at the mistletoe that's hanging precariously above them, he looks back down at iris. his hands are firm against her back. ] Probably. [ of course it's the best plan ever, but he has to remain cool. ] What does the future Pulitzer-winning journalist say? Kiss for each one to see if it goes away, or try our chances and see if it goes away on its own?

[ his eyebrows shoot up at that as he does his best (and fails) to bite back the growing smile from his face. attempting to appear as though he's confused — who is this amazing boyfriend? is he the flash? — barry doesn't quite sell it. and that's okay by him; he never really wants to be good at playing pretend with iris, never really has wanted to be in the first place. ]

I definitely need you to save the day. [ barry thinks of what he wants to say next, continuing on the line of this amazing boyfriend she supposedly has. but he decides to drop it a lot quicker than he realises, peering down at her with his fingers spanning her hips. ] Every day. I think it might even make front page news from time to time.
