maybe it's fate that the two of them ended up here like this, face to face and practically nose to nose, or maybe it's wishful thinking. either way, sara's definitely not mad at it, and she's definitely not mad at the tiny green plant that's danging above their heads.
kara might be an alien, but she's been on earth long enough now that sara's pretty sure that she knows exactly what mistletoe entails. her eyes glance up towards it and then her gaze meet's kara's again, even though their mouths are so close already that it wouldn't take very much at all to close the gap and do it already. but instead, she's just gonna quirk an eyebrow in something like a challenge, murmur a soft, ) Hey, Supergirl.

kiss her then. it's tradition.
tradition or not, close or not, nothing stops the warm sensation from flooding over her. it pushes her forward, encourages her to close the gap with a soft, shy kiss to the corner of sara's mouth. when kara does pull back, she smiles. ]
Hey yourself, Captain Lance.

alright, that's a boldfaced lie. it's been a few weeks since kara had returned to her earth and sara's opportunities to flirt or make a move seemed to completely vanish and it's kind of gotten under her skin a little bit, a rare feat. that's probably why it shouldn't be a surprise when sara kisses kara a little more purposefully, lips capturing hers and lingering there for a moment as her hands settle on kara's waist. )
Didn't expect to see you here tonight.

why should she blush? it's just the mistletoe, right? nothing to blush about. it's a perfectly normal part of the christmas tradition to smooch under the mistletoe. sara had obviously just done her part.
the fact that sara's hands were still lingering on her waist, or that neither of them had moved away, or that mistletoe was usually ignored by everyone except those people that really needed an excuse to kiss... it was all swiftly ignored in favor of the happy, bubbly feeling in kara's chest. ]
Thea. [ it's not much of an explanation, but it should explain enough. ] She didn't give me much notice, actually. I forgot to bring a gift for the host.

"thea" explains a lot, actually, makes sara nod in understanding. thea explains why she and the rest of the legends are here, anyway. aberrations could wait for a night, couldn't they? so out of the time stream they went, and headed back to 2016 star city.
what's inexplicable is why sara's hands are planted on kara's hips like this still. okay, no, that much is pretty obvious. what is inexplicable is why kara is letting her keep her hands right where they are. and she definitely is letting sara do just that, which is definitely cool. so — )
I'm pretty sure your presence is enough of a gift on its own. Interdimensional travel is kind of a big deal, y'know.

[ or for this, either, the way sara's still lingering so close and smiling at her so pleased. like the cat that ate the canary, only the expression seems wrong somehow. with a small smile, kara rests the tips of her fingers along the top of sara's arm, brushing gently from wrist to knuckle. a testing gesture, careful and unsure. ]
What about you? Leaving the timeline's a big deal too.

her gaze quickly moves to where kara's fingertips lie, eyes following the path that they take down along her arm, over the sensitive part of her inner wrist. the goosebumps that appear seem a betray sara's calm and cool demeanor, but it can't be helped. )
Figured after fighting off an alien invasion, the team could stand a night off. ( and her lips quirk into a little bit of a smirk. ) That's the thing about time — it's not going anywhere.

[ not that it's overly surprising. sara lance doesn't exactly strike kara as the kind of person who buys housewarming gifts or bottles of wine for the hostess. however, sara lance is definitely the type of person who possesses the enviable ability to go back in time and fix her own mistakes.
not that sara obviously does that. or did that. it's just a hypothetical ability that kara wishes she had, so that she could go back in time and make a pit stop at the nearest grocery store for a bottle of pinot grigio and a fruit platter. the little things in life, in any case. ]
If only we had a time machine that could take us back a few hours...
