which, of course, includes mistletoe.
when linda finds herself crossing the hall from one room to another, she also finds that her feet just won't move. it's as if they're stuck to the spot, though there's no tacky gum adhering her heel to the tile, or industrial-strength fly paper keeping her rooted. only after looking up in frustration does she notice the deep greens and reds of the mistletoe, tied neatly against the archway with a satin ribbon. ]
Cisco — [ because she doesn't know thea well, but she does know cisco, and this is exactly the type of prank he'd pull. harmless but hilarous. (to onlookers, at least.) ] — when I find you...
[ of course, it can't be that easy. being stuck in a quiet hallway is one thing. at least there's some privacy while dealing with the issue, some silence to think about the concept of abandoning your new shoes in order to escape unseen. but the universe works in mysterious ways, and just as linda is about to make up her mind, a certain speedster walks through the hall. ]
Barry, don't —
[ but why would it work that way? now they're both stuck, and for who knows how long? and who knows who's going to miss them? ]
— walk this way. [ as a method of explanation, she points up. ] Mistletoe? And probably some science.

[ now he understands why she used team flash's very favourite saying. ]
Oh.
[ he doesn't seem too flustered by it, but when he tries to move his feet to take a great step backward (there's a glass of champagne filled to the brim he'd left on the counter just out of arm's reach to his left), he finds he can't move his feet. ]
[ that's not good news for a speedster. ]
Oh. [ this time, with feeling. he looks down at linda with some concern, then up at the mistletoe again. ] Huh. He finally managed to do it.
[ he's pretty sure his reaction shouldn't be to smile widely up at the mistletoe, then down at linda, but that's the reaction barry's having for now. of course, he fully expects he'll be able to break out of it's hold. he's the fastest man alive. ]
I mean ...

Did you plant this all over my apartment?

[ barry glances around, brows furrowing together in a manner that shouts guilty. there's mistletoe everywhere — hanging on the door frames, tied to underneath chairs, sitting against windows, even hung from the light in the bathroom. it'd been a very tricky process, but barry allen's never done anything half-assed when it comes to iris west. ]
I don't see any dirt or pots? [ he smiles. ]

Iris rolls her eyes and laughs a moment later. Steps into his personal space and wraps her arms around his neck to plant a long kiss him on him.]
I'd hate for it to go to waste.

Huh.
[ he presses his lips together for a moment. ]
It's not going away. [ his smile remains cheeky as he looks at her, brows furrowing purposefully together. ] I wonder why it's not going away.
[ probably because it isn't particle accelerator affected mistletoe, or barry allen hasn't reached up to snag it from where he's displayed it. but he does think this is a mystery only a reporter of iris west's calibre can uncover. ]

[Those are two very good reasons. It's not meta-mistletoe and he hasn't used his height to move it. But it probably does require further investigation.]
Maybe we need to kiss for each one of them?
[That's about a thousand. So better get started.]

[ pursing his lips together, he feigns mulling it over. peering up at the mistletoe that's hanging precariously above them, he looks back down at iris. his hands are firm against her back. ] Probably. [ of course it's the best plan ever, but he has to remain cool. ] What does the future Pulitzer-winning journalist say? Kiss for each one to see if it goes away, or try our chances and see if it goes away on its own?

Oh, I thought this was one for the Flash. I don't think anyone's going to want to read a story about me kissing my amazing boyfriend all night long.
[She ain't that kind of writer, ok. Iris smirks up at him, leaning her weight against him.]
But since you need me to save the day, I willingly volunteer to help you, Flash.

I definitely need you to save the day. [ barry thinks of what he wants to say next, continuing on the line of this amazing boyfriend she supposedly has. but he decides to drop it a lot quicker than he realises, peering down at her with his fingers spanning her hips. ] Every day. I think it might even make front page news from time to time.
[ he thinks of headlines such as iris west saves the flash from meta terrorizing the city #34. ]
